The spinning mill construction began in 1973 at 17 hectares of land with 5 hectares of building area in Probolinggo. The production began in 1974 equipped with 10,368 spindles and 550 employees. After then, it had advanced its spinning operation and expanded to weaving and garment fields. Now, it employs more than 4,000 employees.Eratex was initially a joint-venture company betweet Eastern Cotton Mills Ltd., UniSouth Ltd., Limmen Investment Ltd., and PT Rodamas Company Ltd.Eastern Cotton Mills Ltd. was founded in 1954 in Hongkong. It's main subsidiary is Mainyard Company Ltd. The main operations of this group are investment, textile, and real estate fields. It holds 25% of Eratex's shares.UniSouth Ltd. (or its predecessor, South Textiles Ltd.) was founded in Hong Kong in 1949. The South Group (UniSouth) listed its share in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1972 with its main business in textiles, screw fasteners, and property investments. Past 1994, South (now known as South Holdings Ltd.) became a private company with investment in textiles, oil and gas, portfolio, and property investments. South Indonesian Holdings Ltd., a wholely owned subsidiary of South Holdings Ltd., holds 22.5% of Eratex's shares.Limmen Investment Ltd. was founded in 1986 in Liberia. Limmen is a private company operating in portfolio investment, venture capital, and private financing.PT Rodamas Company Ltd. is a very established and diversified local company in Indonesia.Eratex has its executive office in Surabaya with its registered office in Jakarta, a branch office in Hong Kong, and manufacturing base in Probolinggo, East Java. Eratex had been awarded by the Indonesian Government as one of the 100 biggest tax contributors in 1987 and 1989.
